v1.2.0 - Urgent Event Minigames and Improvements
For this update, we focused on adding a new way to encounter minigames that isn’t dependent on customers. This new “urgent event” system adds minigame events that pop up randomly during the shift and must be taken care of within a set amount of time. We are starting out with a set of 3 new minigames, and we have a lot of ideas for more that we can add in the future. This system really opens the door for all kinds of new minigames!

We also started writing our own music. The Raging Cow, Hot Soup, Build-A-Burger, and Heimlich Maneuver background music were all created in-house. Let us know which one is your favorite!
Another thing we are looking at is game balance. We want the game to be fair but also progress in a way that forces the game to a somewhat inevitable end. As part of these adjustments we made the choice to give the “Stay Employed” modifier limited uses. We are curious to hear what you think about this.
There’s also a good set of sounds, modifiers, quality of life, and other random changes. Check out the full changelist for more details.
Let us know what you like, if you run into any bugs, any improvements you have in mind, or what you don’t like. We hope you enjoy it!
Future Updates
Here are a few things in the backlog that may be in future updates:
- Happy Birthday special customer with a singing minigame.
- More game balancing
- Limiting max number of customers in a shift
- Potentially increasing the max speed limit in Progressive mode
- Active Modifier display details like “uses left” or a way to tell if a modifier has been used like Second Chance.
- Potentially removing Normal mode
- The Progressive mode we added after release seems like the best way to play. If you think otherwise please let us know!
- We still plan to keep “Easy” and have ideas for some other additional modes as well
- More urgent event minigames:
- Dish washing
- Filling water glasses
- Multiple save slots that gives the player the option to delete runs and shows the shift number, mode, and any other useful info for that save slot
- Achievements
